Explore Wallarano Primary School’s 4-point canopy structure, designed for expansive shade with minimal posts using Monotec 370 in Bundena.
Wallarano Primary School sought a solution to shade a large outdoor area while minimising the number of posts that could obstruct the space. Additionally, they wanted to protect their architectural paving as much as possible. Shade ‘n’ Sails delivered a 4-point canopy structure, a cost-effective solution that met all of the school’s requirements.
The custom-designed 4-point canopy structure spans a significant area, providing ample shade for students and staff. The structure’s design minimises the number of posts, ensuring the space remains open and unobstructed. This was particularly important to maintain the usability of the area for various school activities.
The fabric chosen for the canopy was Monotec 370 shade mesh in the colour Bundena (Blue). This material offers excellent UV protection and durability, ensuring the shaded area remains comfortable and protected from the sun’s harsh rays. The supporting steelwork was hot dip galvanised and powder coated, providing a robust and visually appealing finish that complements the school’s environment.
One of the primary challenges was designing a structure that provided extensive shade while using minimal posts. This required careful planning and engineering to ensure the canopy was both stable and effective.
Another key consideration was protecting the architectural paving beneath the canopy. The design needed to ensure that the installation process did not damage the paving and that the structure itself provided adequate protection from weather elements. Through meticulous planning and execution, the project team achieved these goals, ensuring the paving remained intact and well-protected.
The Monotec 370 shade mesh in Bundena (Blue) was selected for its superior UV protection and durability. This choice of fabric ensures that the canopy provides effective shade while maintaining a vibrant and welcoming appearance. The hot dip galvanised and powder-coated steelwork offers long-lasting strength and an attractive finish.
The project was completed in May 2023, on schedule and within budget. The successful completion of the canopy structure is a testament to the team’s expertise and commitment to meeting the client’s needs.
Wallarano Primary School expressed great satisfaction with the completed canopy structure. The new shaded area provides a comfortable outdoor space for students to play and learn, enhancing their overall school experience. The minimal post design ensures the space is open and versatile, suitable for various activities and events.
The project has significantly improved the usability of the outdoor area, allowing the school to make better use of its outdoor space year-round. The protection of the architectural paving ensures the longevity of this important aspect of the school’s infrastructure.
