As part of a complete campus revamp, Spring Gully Primary School required new shade solutions for several areas. Shade ‘n’ Sails was tasked with providing a comprehensive solution, resulting in the installation of 10 shade sails and one hypar umbrella, creating a vibrant and functional outdoor environment for students and staff.
The project involved the installation of 10 shade sails across various locations on the school grounds. Two of these shade sails required custom-made steel frames to ensure optimal installation and functionality. Additionally, a hypar umbrella was installed, adding both aesthetic appeal and practical shade to the school’s outdoor spaces.
The shade sails were designed to provide extensive coverage, ensuring students and staff are protected from the sun while engaging in outdoor activities. The use of high-quality materials and custom steel frames ensured the durability and stability of the shades.
Completing work at multiple locations simultaneously presented a unique challenge in terms of machinery mobilisation and coordination with the client. To minimise the impact on teachers and students, careful planning and coordination were essential. The project team worked closely with the school to schedule work at times that would cause the least disruption to daily activities.
The custom-made steel frames for two of the shade sails required precise engineering and fabrication. This process involved detailed measurements and tailored solutions to fit the specific needs of the designated areas. The successful integration of these custom frames highlights the team’s ability to deliver bespoke solutions for complex requirements.
The materials chosen for this project were selected for their durability and UV protection. The shade sails and hypar umbrella were made from high-quality fabric that ensures long-lasting performance and effective sun protection. The steel frames and shade sail posts were hot dip galvanised and powder coated, providing a robust and aesthetically pleasing finish.
The project was completed in July 2020, on schedule and within budget. Despite the challenges of working across multiple locations, the team’s dedication and meticulous planning resulted in a successful and seamless installation.
Spring Gully Primary School expressed great satisfaction with the new shade solutions. The various shade structures have significantly enhanced the school’s outdoor spaces, providing comfortable and protected areas for students and staff to enjoy. The positive feedback and the subsequent installation of additional hypar umbrellas on site underscore the success of the project.
The new shade solutions have improved the usability of the school grounds, allowing for more outdoor activities and events. The custom steel frames and tailored designs demonstrate Shade ‘n’ Sails’ commitment to delivering high-quality, customised solutions that meet the specific needs of educational institutions.
