Meet the team

Neil Glover

Co-Founder & Director

27 years with Shade ‘n’ Sails

Neil co-founded Shade ‘n’ Sails more than 25 years ago and has been a driving force in the business ever since. With over three decades of industry experience, he knows the ins and outs of shade structures better than just about anyone.

Neil is a hands-on problem solver who loves bringing old things back to life. When he’s not at work, you’ll usually find him tinkering with vintage cars and motorbikes or tackling another DIY project around the house. He’s a proud father of four daughters and a doting grandfather to five grandchildren, who keep him just as busy as the business does.

Steady, practical and always up for a chat, Neil’s knowledge has helped shape Shade ‘n’ Sails into what it is today.

Trevor Hocking

Co-Founder & Director

27 years with Shade ‘n’ Sails

Meet Trevor – the OG of Shade ‘n’ Sails. He’s been here since day one, helping build the business from the ground up more than 25 years ago. As one half of the original duo who kickstarted the company, Trevor brings unmatched experience and a wealth of know-how that only time and dedication can deliver.

But don’t mistake experience for slowing down. Trevor is as energetic as ever — whether he’s driving projects forward at work or pushing his limits outside of it. A passionate Melbourne Demons supporter and endurance athlete, he’s completed one full Ironman Triathlon and six half-Ironman events.

With his dedication to Shade ‘n’ Sails and his love of staying active, Trevor truly embodies the “work hard, play hard” spirit.

Murray has been part of Shade ‘n’ Sails for more than 15 years and has worked his way up through the business to become Operations Manager. He keeps projects running smoothly, ensures high standards are met, and is known for his calm approach when things get busy.

Murray’s boss just happens to be his younger brother, Trevor. There’s no shortage of sibling rivalry in the mix, but the pair work side by side with the same passion for keeping Shade ‘n’ Sails moving forward.

Outside of work, Murray is a talented sportsman who represented Australia in badminton at not one, not two, but three Commonwealth Games — and the Olympics! It’s an achievement few can boast about.

These days, he channels that competitive streak into golf, running and backing the Hawks.

Outside of work, Nick is competitive and sociable. He enjoys darts, spending time with family and friends over a good meal, and has recently taken up woodturning — so watch out, trees! When it’s time to relax, a modest glass of whisky is never far away.
